The GIDC started the Industrial Estate Vapi, in 1968. As the
industries became functional and the entrepreneurs and technical
people started arriving, it was imperative to start an English
Medium School, to cater to the educational needs of wards of these
people. The need for a good school in Vapi coincided with the
dream of Mrs. Sandra Shroff, of UPL Ltd., to set up an ideal
school. With the strong support of Shri Rajjubhai Shroff, her
husband and some of their friends, Mrs. Shroff took the lead and
established Gnyan Dham School in 1972 under the aegis of the Gnyan
Dham Vapi Charitable Trust (G.D.V.C.T.). The school was affiliated
with Gujarat State Education Board (G.S.E.B.). The land for the
school was allotted by the G.I.D.C. UPL Ltd. gave financial
support in constructing the school building. Additional financial
support was provided by donations from reputed industries and
individuals.
In 1989, the School was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi. In 2000, the name of the School was amended to 'Smt. Sandraben Shroff Gnyan Dham School', as a mark of respect and admiration, for Mrs. Shroff’s involvement and enormous contribution in nurturing the school to its present status.

Eklavya Model Residential School, Ahwa, is situated in the Dang
District. It is funded by the Gujarat State Tribal Education
Institutions Society under the Tribal Ministry of India. In 2011,
Gyandham Vapi Charitable Trust – Vapi took over the school under
Public Private Partnership.
There are about 480 tribal children (Girls & Boys) studying in the
school from Class 6 to 12 Science and Commerce stream and residing
in the Hostels. This school is only meant for Scheduled Tribe
children from poor family background. In EMRS Ahwa, mostly
children hail from the Dang District and few are from Vyara and
Punchmahal District.
With the monetary support of the Central & and the State
Govt., as well as with the immense guidance and cooperation from
the Gnyandham trustees and Chairman, there has always been a slow
but steady progress witnessed academically and non- academically.
From last five years, School has gained 100 % results in SSC Board
examination, and 95 % and above in HSC Science and Commerce
stream. Students have showcased their talents in the Khel
Mahakumbh and won in Kudo at the State level.
With the consistent delivery of career workshops and seminars, tribal students have honed their career in Medical, Engineering, Teaching, Nursing, Veterinary, Army field etc. This institute has also stressed upon skill development programmes with opening of new horizons for the tribal students in Stitching, Beauty Parlour, and Electrical etc.
This school lays more weightage on the holistic development of tribal students and the teaching staff. That is why teachers too have been given various in-house trainings to sharpen their teaching and learning skills. With proper nourishment and good menu, children have benefited with good physical fitness.
Apart from academic facilities, the school has tried its level best to furnish modern civil facilities like Residential Quarters for teaching staff, Smart classes for Students, Bio- gas system, Public Address System, well equipped School and Hostel buildings etc.
From 2013 onwards, School has received many awards from the
Govt. and local authorities by securing good board results as well
as for cleanliness drives. The coming years may become more
vibrant and fruitful with the endeavours of the teachers, students
and head mistress of EMRS- Ahwa.
